Akua means Spirit in Hawaiian. Mary Full of Grace was christened with the barn name “Akua” in memory of Riku.
In 2015 Heidi wanted to pick up a second horse that she could build up to a 100 mile competitor. We were very pleased with our two other Cre Run horses that we again turned to Cre Run to find the right match. Mary Full of Grace was available and we liked her bloodlines with 5 time Darley Champion Da Adios sire and Darley nominated Full of Finesse, mother, we had a feeling she would be something special.
As a flat track horse Mary Full of Grace competed in 2011 and 2012.
Race Starts: 8
Firsts: 1
Seconds: 0
Thirds: 0
Total Earnings $7,313 (previous owners, not us!)
In 2016 Akua powered through the limited distance races to complete 3 of 4 races. In early 2017 she moved up to 50 mile endurance distances. Her first 50 mile race was strong ride at Broxton Bridge Plantation. The course is a very flat sandy loamy footing, very suiting to her style of competition. With her just starting to move up in distance we held her back all day. She finished with all A’s at the vet check and ready to go out again. Mary is looking forward to her 2020 season.
