At about 5 to 6 months old. Eggs start out small and gradually increase to their normal sizes.
We recommend feeding a “NON-MEDICATED” starter/grower feed until your pullets are 4 months old. Note- it must be non-medicated because your pullets have been vaccinated against coccidiosis and we do not want to harm the healthy gut biome they have developed. At 4 months switch over to laying pelletsSupplement with crushed oyster shells. You do not need to buy grit.
The pullets are fully feathered and they no longer require additional heat.
We have changed to online ordering/payment to allow social distancing at pickup. This has been working well.
All chicks are from an NPIP accredited hatchery that's certified to be free from Avian Influenza and Salmonella. Pullets are fully vaccinated against Marek's Disease and Coccidiosis.
All chickens seem to have a “sweet tooth”- our flock especially enjoys watermelon, grapes, bananas, strawberries and tomatoes. Please do not give avocados - they are toxic. Avoid onion like vegetables as they can flavor the eggs
